2021.11.27 23:06 lilywritesfanfiction struggling with burnout
i have been so empty for the past year. and i’m okay, i promise. i’m not terribly depressed or somewhere i can’t get out of, but i really haven’t felt like myself.
so for background, im fifteen and my whole life i’ve had a really just huge passion for making music. i’ve been playing piano since i was four and taking voice and guitar and all other kinds of lessons and classes since elementary school and i’m lucky to have family that supports me in this. i started writing songs six years ago, and that was it, that was my thing. i love it and i’m pretty good at it, so when i first got a computer i started learning how to record and produce and release songs. for a few years i would do this every day and i got so excited about it all the time.
i knew in my heart that i was going into music and i was going to try to make it as a performer, and if i couldn’t i was going to work in a recording studio or maybe be a music teacher. during quarantine all i had was spark and i worked my ass off and i improved so much. i was so happy to make music and i had more energy and passion than i ever had before.
and then in about february of this year, it stopped. i stopped writing songs for about a month, and when i finally got back into it, i had completely lost my spark. no new medications, serious lifestyle changes, i had just lost it.
and even though im writing songs and producing again, that passion isn’t there. i’m thinking about quitting music altogether and majoring in english or something and i hate hate hate that feeling. i feel like i killed the dreamer in me and i lost myself completely.
i just need to know how to get out of it, and if you have any, i need cruel advice, tough love, the honest truth, whatever you want to call it. i don’t want to hear “wait it out” or “the time will come” bevause that’s what everyone in my life is telling me and i don’t think the time is coming if i don’t go and get it. any advice you have would be appreciated. thanks so much

I'm from the general Holland area and was wondering if there are any 2 or 3 gun matches near there i could find ones for the far east side of the state but not here. i would prefer 2 gun matches because i am a lot more confident in my physical ability and would like to still be competitive just off that wile i improve my shooting ability

2021.11.27 23:06 tylerfuckingmarch Controller input delay
So i just got an xbox series x controller for my pc to play halo infinite and the first game in, i was experiencing some extreme input delay. I used to use a ps4 controller, so i changed the ps4 controller configurations through steam big picture mode to xbox configurations and that helped but still experiencing some bad input delay. The ps4 controller was connected with usb but i connected my xbox controller through bluetooth. Just wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of this delay cause its killing me.

2021.11.27 23:06 MightReach There should be 30 minutes (MAX!) per side for world championships and for all other classical matches at the professional level, do you agree with me?
These world championship games are like watching Steph Curry and Kevin Durant having a free throw shooting contest for 4 hours... You appreciate the consistency, but it's boring to watch. These commentators try their best to make the games exciting, but with the exception of Ben Finegold and his son, the games even with commentary are like watching paint dry. Very few commentators have the gift of gab and the teaching ability/experience to adequately fill in the long gaps between moves to make the world championship (and other classical matches) worth watching from beginning to end for most people. There's only so much you can commentate on when each player takes 10 minutes to make one move and there's an hour and a half still left on each player's clock.
Classical games should be 30 minutes per side with no increment. If FIDE wants to grow this game, they're going to have to make it more exciting to watch, which means there needs to be at least some measure of time pressure, like any other sport/competition. In baseball you don't have a clock, but you do have outs, which serves as a time parameter in its own way. Even in golf, if you're playing to slowly, your group gets put on the clock which can result in stroke penalties if you don't speed up.
The most exciting aspects of chess are checkmates, time scrabbles, tactics and well coordinated attacks, and because everything is so well defended and positional at the world championship level, these games are mostly void of all 4 aspects. People want to see a winner and a loser, and when 70+ percent of the games end in some boring endgame draw/tie, then there's something wrong with the formula. Shorter time controls would facilitate not only more decisive games, but more exciting chess.
What are your thoughts, should multi-hour classical games be traded in for a shorter, 30+0 time control?
